This repository contains tree cover maps between 1987 and 2020 for the Paraguayan Chaco at yearly resolution. With a ranodm forest classifier, annual forest cover maps were generated from Landsat composites. There is one forest mask for every year. The dataset is available as 8-bit GeoTIFF in the WGS 84 / UTM zone 21S - Projected (EPSG:32721) with a pixel size of 30 m. The grey levels in the raster file indicate forest and non-forest. Their meaning is as follows: 1 = no-forest and/or no data 100 = forest within the Paraguayan chaco Accuracies for the annual forest cover maps: Year OA Kappa Coefficient 1987 0.93 0.84 1988 0.92 0.74 1989 0.90 0.79 1990 0.95 0.89 1991 0.96 0.87 1992 0.97 0.88 1993 0.96 0.89 1994 0.95 0.87 1995 0.93 0.83 1996 0.94 0.86 1997 0.88 0.76 1998 0.88 0.76 1999 0.97 0.92 2000 0.95 0.87 2001 0.95 0.85 2002 0.99 0.98 2003 0.99 0.99 2004 0.98 0.95 2005 0.99 0.98 2006 0.90 0.78 2007 0.91 0.84 2008 0.95 0.91 2009 0.95 0.89 2010 0.94 0.88 2011 0.94 0.90 2012 0.94 0.90 2013 0.91 0.81 2014 0.92 0.84 2015 0.92 0.84 2016 0.94 0.91 2017 0.97 0.95 2018 0.96 0.93 2019 0.91 0.82 2020 0.85 0.70 An open access publication with all technical details can be found here: Da Ponte, E. & Garcia-Calabrese, M. & Kriese, J. & Cabral, N. & Pérez de Molas, L. & Alvarenga, M. & Caceres, A. & Gali, A. & García, V. & Morinigo, L. & Ríos, M. & Salinas, A..
